Jake mace is a throw back to the pre internet martial BS of the 1970s to 90s. Amazes me this sillyness is still out there. He is entirely "technique" focused. No mention about physical conditioning, internal training, psychological conditioning, sparring, adrenaline dump etc. Very dangerous stuff for the naive and believers. This is all pseudo fighting and fake self defence. Bloody ridiculous.

I have so many issues with this. 1. Gung Fu is NOT the predecessor to all martial arts and the even the Shaolin Monk were taught their fighting styles by an Indian Buddhist Monk. There are even documents dated LONG before the advent of Chinese Gung Fu. 2. It's NOT the "Tiger Ridge Hand". The "Tiger" style of Gung Fu doesn't have a "Ridge Hand". What you are using, Jake, is a "Wing Slash" found in "White Crane". Please get your terms right or don't say anything. Speaking with an authoritative tone does not make you automatically right. 3. Really, "Bird Style" Kung Fu? Which bird? Crane, Eagle? Oh, I know!! Pigeon. 4. Knock him out because his "brain gets shaken?" No. What's happening is you are attacking the Vegas nerves on either side of the throat. The brain doesn't "get shaken" because the receiver's head doesn't move. Please learn some anatomy. This is 8th grade science. Over the years, I have watched a total of three of this guy's videos and - stupid me- I keep hoping they will get better and more accurate. I should have known better. Please, Jake. Stop giving inaccurate information to people who don't know the difference. You are going to get someone seriously hurt or put in jail because they believe you when you say these methods work, "For anyone".

Just came across this, 9 years later. I watch a lot of Wuxia and Xianxia videos and I always thought the fan scenes were pure fantasy. After watching your demonstration I realize how the fan can be a real weapon, and how beautiful the entire sequence can be.

Hi Jake, how long should a Bo staff be. I have a bo staff of 50 1/2 inches long that came with my Boken wooden sword from my Aikido training. Is it advantageous to start with a shorter Bo Staff. Your Bo staff looks longer than mine. Thank you. Patrick.

It's not about the techniques and how to apply them. It's about understanding how to move ideally. If in a fight all your moves are ideal (in response to your opponent) you will almost certainly win.
